N1, THE BULL, Dinner

Earlier this week, we were out and about whistling around our favourite street in N1 – Upper St.

Such a quirky yet quaint area with one of the best selections of independent shops in North London- Ottolenghi’s food store, After Noah, and Gill Wing’s Jewellery Shop, to name a few.

With street lights glowing and Christmas shoppers hunting for trinkets it was so beautifully festive.

It was freezing so after we’d explored our favourite gift shops, boutiques & café’s we needed somewhere to really warm up & eat. The Bull was glowing with warmth and buzz so we dived in and were warmly welcomed – an easy win for a good first impression.

Here’s a description of the establishment in their own words ‘We’ve taken the endearing spirit of your traditional local, added a touch of urban cool and topped this with a generous sprinkling of English eccentricity’. I would say, on first impression – they had succeeded.

Soft furnishings and a casual atmosphere makes The Bull feel like a home from home – the spiral staircase is the feature piece, leading up to a cosy seating area where you can look down (spy…!) onto the bar below. IMG_3699

The Bull lets it’s cheeky streak come through…

Feeling virtuous and wintery, coupled with trying to be ‘ladies’, we each chose the carrot and chestnut soup and a bottle of cabernet. FESTIVE! Note, we cannot genuinely critique the kitchen talent – this was JUST soup. Good soup none the less.

And guys, it was a BARGAIN, we don’t mind that, every penny, you know.
